Hello
Hi! Parent of two teenagers--in entrepreneurship terms, I've been an early investor in two high-growth startups, and am working on two successful exits to adulthood.
I'm all about finding what make us successful in our professional roles and applying them to parenting. Add in wisdom from psychology, community building and faith traditions, and we might just thrive even in the wildest years.
My Story
My entire life has had a singular thread: helping people meet their own life's goals.
As a positive parenting "pro" (listen to the first episode of Plot Twist Parenting): it looked like encouraging and equipping families to grow through tough times.
As a family advocate, it was helping adults get their GED, or encouraging young moms as they grow their babies through music classes and play groups, or welcoming senior adults to gather around a daily warm meal, or opening a free medical health clinic that served everyone regardless of their needs. And a lot of other fun, interesting, and unique individual opportunities for growth.
As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, it was supporting individual growth despite labels, conditions, or diagnoses, as well as through volunteer work promoting ethical and high-impact application of psychological practices.
As a volunteer, it looked like supporting community work to shift the tide of teen mental health and reduce teen suicide. Or hours spent with women in jail, carrying the message that we are all uniquely and incredibly created and that we all make choices we'd rather we hadn't.
As a tech leader, it was using my tech skills and strategic strengths to help nonprofits focusing on racial reconciliation and supporting families impacted by incarceration. That also looked like hours of mentoring, encouraging, and uplifting others who wanted to venture into the tech space--regardless of their background.
And as a parent--my most beloved role of all--I learned what it really meant to support my kids and cheer them on as they grew into their own unique selves. I found the deeper meaning of the words "unconditional love" and drew from ancient texts that convinced me that I myself am (and you, dear one are,) unconditionally loved as well.
